Relevant Preclinical Models

Patient derived xenograft (PDX) tumor models emerged as a new approach for preclinical testing of novel anticancer compounds in vivo due to its preservation of key features, which includes invasiveness, stromal reaction, tumor vasculature and cellular diversity of human carcinomas. In contrast to a cell line-xenograft tumor model, PDX tumors are established from the transplantation of fresh tumor tissue from a cancer patient into a immunodeficient mouse.

Below you will find a sample of our PDX models available through the core facility.  Our repository also maintains over 30 additional PDX models that have shown consistent growth and have retained the histological characteristics of the patient tumor.

NCI Patient-Derived Models Repository (PDMR)

NCI has developed a national repository of Patient-Derived Models (PDMs) comprised of patient-derived xenografts (PDXs), in vitro patient-derived tumor cell cultures (PDCs) and cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs) as well as patient-derived organoids (PDOrg).

PDXFinder

To facilitate PDX models discovery, EMBL-EBI and The Jackson Laboratory are co-developing PDX Finder: a comprehensive open global catalogue of PDX models and their associated data across resources.This work is supported by the NIH U24 CA204781 01 and the National Cancer Institute MTB R01 R01CA089713.

NU PDX Repository

A repository of more than 52 models across 12 different types of human cancers has been created in collaboration with the Lurie Cancer Center Pathology Core Facility since 2013. PDX tumor models available to researchers include: glioblastoma, breast, bladder, pancreatic, colon, lung, liver, ovarian, endometrial, leukemia, mesothelioma and multiple myeloma.
