Alumnae of Northwestern Teaching Professor and Associate Professor of Chemistry, Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences; Co-Director, Center for Molecular Innovation and Drug Discovery; Member, Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University
Dr. Scheidt’s research focuses on the discovery of new reactions and the chemical synthesis of new molecules with important biological activity. His recent discoveries using carbene catalysis have made him a leader of this new field that aims to use small organic molecules as catalysts. The small molecule research in his laboratory is centered on investigating new disruptors of tumor cell metastasis and the construction of natural products and analog compounds to discover and understand the molecular mechanisms of cancer.
